OUR BAG STUFFING
Yesterday Jim and I got up early, which we hate doing on the weekend, picked up 2 boxes of cofee and 3 dozen donuts and headed to Camp Johnson. We were greeted with the wonderful surprise of many willing volunteers! What a great way to start our day! You see last year we had Jim, myself and one other person show up so we were stuck having to ask the students themselves help us stuff their bags. NOT COOL! Of all the things that I do as a Key Volunteer this one means the most to me. These young Marines who are in most cases away from their families for the first time, unable to go home for Christmas and will be leaving Camp Johnson to, in many cases, join the fleet and head to Iraq. I, as a mother and Marine spouse, want them to know that they are important and appreciated. We are given this awesome opportunity to show them that their Marine Corps family cares for them and appreciates the sacrifice they are making for their country! I deeply appreciate all of the help that we got this year and once again am reminded of how the military families look out for their own! SEMPER FI!
